2 Hours Prerequisite: NT 225 An advanced historical and exegetical study of Hebrews with a focus on how its theological argument concerning Christ's superiority urges the church to live faithfully and avoid apostasy.

A historical and exegetical study of 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus with particular emphasis on implications for ministerial functions in the church today.

An exegetical study of the letters of James, 1 & 2 Peter, and Jude. Areas of emphasis include establishing historical and cultural contexts for each letter, exploring potential interaction with Second Temple Jewish literature, examining how an author’s use of language informs our understanding of the text, and applying the message of these letters to Christian life today.

3 Hours Prerequisite: LA 111 Exegesis of selected New Testament texts with goal of increasing preficiency in Koine Greek vocabulary, grammar, syntax, and morphology.

New Testament Exegesis 2 (NT 361)

3 Hours Prerequisite: NT 360. A continuation of NT 360.

History and Archeology of Bible Lan (NT 380)

Credits:3

(OT 380, HI 380) 3 hours This course consists of a 9-12 day study tour of Israel with pre and post tour assignments. Other Bible lands such as Joardan, Syria, and Egypt may also be included. Weekly seminars on various sites and aspects of Biblical history will prepare students for the trip. Significant sites related to the Old Testament, New Testament, medieval history, and modern hstory will be visited.

3 Hours An in-depth study of the Gospel of John, the Letters of John, and the Revelation to John.

Galatians and Romans (NT 420)

3 hours An advanced historical and exegetical study of Paul's letters to the churches in Galatia and Rome. Of particular interest is Paul's treatment of the relationship between law and justification. Each letter's unique contribution to this discussion will be examined.

1 and 2 Corinthians (NT 430)

3 hours Prerequisite: NT 225 An advanced historical and exegetical study of Paul's first and second epistles to the Corinthian church with a focus on the problems faced by the church and Paul's solutions for correcting them.

II Corinthians (NT 431)

1 Hour An advanced, exegetical study of Paul's second letter to the church at Corinth in which the apostle address the problem of opposition directed against him by certain elements within the church.

Prison Epistles (NT 435)

3 hours An advanced study of Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon with balanced attention given to historical background, exegetical content, and applications to the present church/world situations.

1 - 3 Hours Advanced exegesis of selected New Testament texts with the goal of increasing proficiency in Koine Greek vocabulary, grammar, syntax, and morphology.
